Elio Pace at The Liverpool Philharmonic

I've always wanted to see Billy Joel live and was gutted when he couldn't do his show at Anfield in 2025. So I went to see Elio Pace perform the Billy Joel Songbook at the Liverpool Philharmonic on Wednesday 1st April. And boy did he perform it. He sold out 1,500 seats 3 nights in a row and the audience loved it, as did I. I know there have been posters on here slating the show, saying there was too much talking. But the thing is, the guy knew what he was talking about, and I found it fascinating to hear the story behind the songs. He is a showman, and a phenomenal musician, with a personality everyone loved. Not to be missed, 10/10 all night long.

Great but too much talking

Loved the show, the whole band great musicians and great voices. The show over ran, and that was a problem as we had to get a train at a certain time or would find it hard to get home. So we had to go and miss probably the best part, 20 minutes before end. Too much talking. Some info about Billy is fine, but sometimes it seemed to take an age to get to the next song. Apart from brief introductions and a few snippets, most of the personal stuff was not required. Couple of those songs didn’t really need to be in the show. The talent is there though and we were gutted we had to leave early.

Disappointed

Far, far too loud. Singer lost in the shouting manner of the rock n roll, much better on the ballads! Having seen Billy Joel live several times can say this was not a good representation in the main! Didn't need the strobe lights in our eyes

Not enough Billy Joel

No doubt Elio Pace has a phenomenal voice. He found a weird blurred area of showmanship and pantomime though. It was hard at points to know if it was serious musicianship or stand up comedy. The ending to New York State of Mind… very weird. The twirling and then dropping of his mic stand… very weird. And then just a tonne of plugging his own personal merchandise and name dropping his good good friends in the industry. Nobody paid in the hope that he would tell us Ronnie Corbett was his mate and we should all go and see his daughters show. Credit where it’s due though, cracking voice. Just wish it was more signing and less talking.

Ruined!

Just as the other reviewer posted, this show was far too loud to enjoy. Having been to several Elio Pace shows in the past, this was a huge disappointment and if it had not been for my wife wanting to stay I would have simply left the venue. Not sure I will be attending any more Elio Pace shows in the future.
